Items in Stock -- Groovy

This page contains "groovy" 1960s and 1970s items that don't fit our usual character-related themes, but which came into our possession along the way.  We figured we'd offer them for sale in the name of peace, love, and grooviness.  Long live the '60s and the '70s!!

FROG bank -- Holiday Fair

This is a 5.25" composition bank showing a bright green frog with a pink bowtie with black polka dots on it.  The frog has colored flowers on both hind quarters, one beside his right eye, and several more in back.  The bank's coin slot is located on top of the back of the frog's head and the original generic black rubber stopper is no longer present.  This item was manufactured by Holiday Fair sometime during the early 1970s as part of a very large collection of brightly-colored banks, bookends, and musicals.  This frog is in no worse than near mint condition, with a few tiny flaws in the surface paint being its only detraction.

KITTENS bank

This is a 5.5" lightweight plastic bank showing two blue-and-white kittens peeking out from inside of a yellowish "wicker" basket.  The bank's coin slot is located on the back of the larger kitten's head and there is a generic black rubber stopper underneath the basket to hold the money inside.  This item is in virtually perfect condition.  This item probably dates to the 1960s or 1970s, and there is no indication anywhere on it as to who made it.

INDIAN bank

This cute, oddball piece is a 7.25" composition or lightweight plaster (hard to tell which substance it is!) bank showing a young boy dressed as an Indian chief.  He wears a headdress of blue, red, and white feathers, a multi-colored necklace, blue pants, and black shoes.  The Indian boy holds an orange spear beside him in his right hand and he stands in front of a tall yellow "straw" tepee.  The bank's coin slot is located on the upper portion of the back of the tepee and the original generic black rubber stopper is present underneath.  This item is in near mint condition, with a scrape in the paint on the coin slot and another on one of the orange bumps at the top of the tepee.  The bank probably dates to the 1960s or early 1970s, and there is no indication anywhere on it as to who made it.

LION vinyl bank

This bank was manufactured in 1971 by Play Pal Plastics.  It is 12.5" tall and made of hard vinyl.  The lion is shown wearing a gold crown with a red top stone.  He has light green eyes and is shown sitting and panting/smiling.  There is a single spot of paint loss on the red top stone portion of the crown; otherwise, this item has no paint loss anywhere on it.  The original stopper is present, too, but has retreated inside of the bank when its previous owner tried quite carelessly to remove it.  This resulted not only in the stopper being pushed inside of the bank but also in some plastic loss on the INNER portion of the area where the stopper is held in place.  This is completely unnoticeable when the item is displayed and would be unnoticeable if the stopper were fished out of the bank's inside and put back into place.
